Overtime I’ve managed to track down two issues of Sense, a Japanese fashion magazine featuring a nice mixture of high end designer items as well as streetwear. I haven’t been able to track down too much information on the beginnings of this magazine and it seems to be quite difficult to track down compared to others. Unfortunately these magazines were just large enough that they couldn’t quite fit on my scanner bed but I’ve done my best to keep as much of the important stuff in.
I’ve scanned both of my issues in entirety, like usual, and will be going through some of the features from the October 2002 issue with you today! I’ll be posting my second issue at a later time, enjoy!
GoodEnough is one of my favorite brands from Hiroshi Fujiwara, this seasons collection features a bunch of items with a “splatter camo”. GDEH offers a bit of something for everyone in this collection; button down shirts and polo shirts, cargo pants, hats, and jackets. I feel like the brand is a reflection of Hiroshi Fujiwara’s personal style which is often a mixture of a few different styles, I think thats why I resonate with this label so much.
Up next we have an inside scoop and some news from Nigo’s fan favorite brand A Bathing Ape. This is a very strong collection for Autumn/Winter and Bape has all the bases covered. My favorite item has to be the wool letterman jacket but other items include Bapesta’s, a down jacket with fur lined hood, gloves, scarves, and beanie. Another great item from this collection worth mentioning is the Raider’s logo varsity jacket, one of my favorite logo flips from the brand. Some news is also included regarding a photo exhibit from the streetwear icon Sue Kwon. The also tease images from the Bape cafe that featured a Bape themed interior and menu.
Stüssy shows off their latest collection as well including some really fun items. They have always stayed so consistent to their brand image which I think is why they have stayed popular for so many years. I love the customs jerseys, the “Wild Style” inspired tee, and the small vinyl figurines the most. During the early 2000’s Stüssy was an unstoppable force that could do no wrong.
Undercover is also featuring showing off the A/W 2002 collection entitled “Witches Cell Division” which is one of my personal favorites from the brand. There are so many features in this magazine it was very difficult to chose what to add but I thought this was too good to not include. Many pieces in this collection included a hybrid style where two different materials were merged together to make one piece like the “I’MMADTOO” pants with denim on the front and sweatpants on the back. My personal favorites in this editorial are the plaid seditionaries style coat and leather coat with a sherling collar.
There is honestly too much to talk about in this issue for one post but thats why I always include the full magazine scans for my paid subscribers to view on their own time. Other features include Devillock, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Raf Simons, and Yohji Yamamoto as well as a really cool section on DJ’s and their favorite music!
