HUGE is a great general fashion publication from Japan that features a number of designer brands and streetwear from Raf Simons and Dior Homme to REALMADHECTIC and Goodenough.
Each issue includes a Hi-End Style editorial typically curated by stylist and designer Jun Murakami (Mura Jun). I really enjoy his style choices in both editorials because of his mix of high end garments with more simple T-Shirts etc, it all feels pretty ready to wear on a daily basis which is difficult sometimes with designer items.
Also included is a brands selection featuring including around 20-30 items from an assortment of brands all based on one main theme or topic. The selected items are well curated and give the reader a diverse look at items from a variation of brands and designers. It’s not very often you will see Bape items paired next to Raf Simons and APC but these selections were ahead of their time.
Both issues include valuable information regarding Japan’s streetwear guru Hiroshi Fujiwara. The November 2002 issue features a recap of one of his late night club DJ events as well as the opening of the Head Porter Annex store.
Each issue focuses on a specific area of streetwear, London for November 2002 and New York for April 2003. Highlights from these features include interviews with Michael Kopelman, the Alife creative team, Sue Kwon, Kim Jones and many more! Lot’s of insight in these features!
There seriously are a ton of great advertisements and other small features scattered throughout both issues. Full PDF files are available to paid subscribers so please consider supporting me and DampMags! Hope you have enjoyed this small write up!
