About DampMagazines...
The concept of DampMagazines can be found quite literally in the name. When a magazine or other kind of physical media gets wet, it's value disappears almost instantaneously. Does that mean that the information no longer has value?
I am an independent archivist and physical media collector based in New York City. The action of archiving can take many forms but for me it comes from digitizing magazines, books, VHS tapes, catalogs, and other forms of media. Since day one, DampMagazines has been about curiosity and the yearning to learn more and tell stories. I have no financial or institutional backing, just an unquenchable hunger for learning. If we want information at our fingertips, we have to share the information.
You may ask yourself, why do I charge money for scans that I didn't have anything to do with? This question I struggled with for quite some time, the simplest way I can put it is this; it's not my work, but it is my work.
